Feel Better, One Step at a Time

Do you feel like your past experiences or upbringing are holding you back? Are you having a difficult time navigating conflict or having peaceful relationships? Do you feel weighed down by pressure or perfectionism? Are you navigating your cultural identity while living in America? Do you feel frustrated by unfair expectations?

Are you an animal welfare worker-either volunteering, working in a shelter, rescue or as a veterinarian and experiencing compassion fatigue, burnout or mental health symptoms related to the very essential work?

Root and Rise Therapy seeks to help immigrants or children of immigrants who have experienced hardship heal, as well as support animal welfare workers with compassion fatigue and trauma related symptoms. We aim to heal individuals who have experienced unhealthy patterns or emotional pain passed through family generations and develop their identity while being multicultural. We also specialize in supporting animal welfare workers. This space is created for people of color and animal welfare workers to create inner healing and feel empowered.

Root and Rise Therapy works with couples who are experiencing conflict related to family issues, couples wanting to break or end generational patterns or couples seeking pre-marital therapy.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience working with adults and adolescents in my 7+ years of practicing therapy. My expertise includes generational trauma, navigating South Asian identity childhood or relationship trauma, substance use issues, life transitions, self esteem, mental health issues and relationship challenges. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Re-Processing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Brainspotting Phase 1 and Gottman Level 1 for couples. My approach involves understanding who you are as a person first and the unique complexities that make up who you are, while tapping into your strengths and incorporating other therapeutic techniques when appropriate.

As a second-generation South Asian, I understand and have personally navigated cultural differences, family dynamics, and the impact of unresolved trauma or navigating a bicultural identity. Cultural and generational traumas might have been normalized or brushed aside during one's upbringing. I am also a volunteer in animal shelters and a foster fur parent, so I have a different perspective of animal welfare. Therapy can be a powerful step toward addressing and healing these issues. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental, comfortable environment where progress happens at the client's pace. No blank slate here!
